All-Stars

Each spring, Lake Norman Little League chooses a Tournament Team (All-Stars) to compete in Little League's International Tournament.  The Little League International Tournament is the most widely known youth sports tournament in the world.  There are six levels of tournament play in Little League Baseball® and five within Little League Softball®, with opportunities for players ages 8 to 16. The tournaments start at the District level, and teams must win their way to advance through the International Tournament. The 8- to 10-Year-Old and 9- to 11-Year-Old Tournaments culminate at the State Level, while the Little League, Little League Intermediate (50/70) Baseball, Junior League, and Senior League divisions all conclude at a World Series Tournament.

Commitment Requirement

Participating in All-Stars is a choice should your child be selected. While it is a privilege to participate, it is also a commitment with added practices and games. Practices begin immediately following regular season championships and often occur daily leading up to tournament play. Missing a few practices and even a game does not necessarily prevent selection to All-Stars; however missing an entire week takes an opportunity away from another player who could commit to preparing with the team. If you realize that your child has several conflicts during the All-Star tournament schedules, it may be a wise decision to pass on a tournament selection.

Player Eligibility

Players are eligible for participation in All-Stars provided they meet the criteria established by the Little League Residency and School Attendance Player Eligibility Requirement, meet the league age requirement for the applicable tournament division, and have participated in at least eight regular season games (six regular season games for Senior League) during the current spring season.  Additionally, parents must agree to have their child included in the pool of players for All-Star consideration, understanding the time commitment required.

Note:  Participants in Lake Norman Little League's Cactus Baseball Division will have an opportunity to be chosen as All-Stars for a special Cactus Division All-Star event at the conclusion of the Spring season.

All-Star Selections

Selection of All-Star Team Managers:
The Coaches Committee nominates Team Managers from the eligible divisions of play. Team Managers are not required to have a child selected to a team to be eligible for selection. Final approval of each Team Manager will be made by the League President.

Selection of All-Star Players:
Regular season Team Managers nominate up to five players from their team for All-Stars. All-Star nominees are voted on by the All-Stars selection committee for each age division. The top nine vote receivers make the team with the final roster spots being determined by the All-Star Team Manager and selection committee. The Board of Directors decides if teams can be formed from these results or if tryouts for any specific All-Star team is necessary.

Mandatory Play

If a tournament team has 13 or more eligible players in uniform at a game, then every player will participate in each game for a minimum of one at-bat. If a tournament team has 12 or fewer players in uniform at a game, then every player will participate in each game for a minimum of six consecutive defensive outs and bat at least one time. There are no mandatory play requirements at the Senior League level.
