What are the eligible ages for participation?

Lake Norman Little League provides programs for boys and girls, league ages 4-16.  A player’s league age is determined by the Little League® Baseball Age Chart or the Little League® Softball Age Chart.  The dates for baseball and softball are different, but each determines the division in which your Little Leaguer will play this season.  The Age Determination Date for a Little League Baseball (and Tee Ball) player is the actual age of a child as of August 31 of the current year.  The Age Determination Date for a Little League Softball player is the actual age of a child as of January 1 of the current year.  For further assistance determining your child's league age, use the League Age Calculator.

What are the Residency Requirements for Participation?

Players are eligible to participate with Lake Norman Little League if they reside, or the physical location of the school where they attend classes, is within the League's Boundary.  To confirm eligibility, launch the Little League Finder tool to quickly and easily identify whether a residence or school address is located within our league boundaries.  Learn more about Establishing Player Eligibility in a Local Little League®.

Does the league offer need-based scholarships?

It is the policy of Lake Norman Little League to provide recreational opportunities for all eligible youth participants that meet the residency requirements for participation within our league. Our programs require the payment of a fee to cover part or all of the direct expenses related to the program. In order to provide eligible participants with these opportunities, Lake Norman Little League offers financial assistance to youth participants meeting the guidelines listed below. The number of scholarships is limited in some programs, depending on the space available.

Participants are required to pay a portion of the fee for each program. Full scholarships are not available for any of our programs. Available scholarships will be given on a first-come / first-served basis. Applicants are required to provide proof of eligibility for financial assistance. Failure to provide this information when requested will void this application.

Available Assistance:

(1) If a child qualifies for reduced price meals through the public school lunch program, they will be eligible for assistance of up to fifty (50%) of the published fee.

(2) If a child qualifies for free meals through the public school lunch program, they will be eligible for assistance of up to seventy-five (75%) of the published fee.

Please complete this Scholarship Application to be considered for financial assistance. The league board will consider all requests and notify you of a decision within 1-2 weeks after submission. Direct all scholarship inquiries to [email protected].

Can I volunteer?

Lake Norman Little League is run entirely by volunteers.   During registration, parents can indicate their interest in volunteering for the current season.  Little League® Baseball and Softball requires each league to conduct a background check on all board members, managers, coaches, umpires, and other volunteers or hired workers who provide regular service to the league and/or who have repetitive access to, or contact with, players or teams.  Lake Norman Little League conducts a nationwide background check and a search of the National Sex Offender Registry utilizing JD Palatine, accessing more than 450 million background check records.

The volunteer application process must be completed prior to representing the league in any capacity.  All flagged background checks are investigated by the Safety Officer and President to determine if the applicant meets Little League requirements to participate as a league volunteer.   Approved volunteers whose background check is subsequently flagged during the calendar year will be suspended to allow the league to investigate and make a final determination on continued volunteer privileges.
