League Governance

The objective of Lake Norman Little League is to implant firmly in the children of the community the ideals of good sportsmanship, honesty, loyalty, courage and respect for authority, so that they may be well adjusted, stronger and happier children and grow to be good, decent, healthy and trustworthy citizens.  To achieve this objective, the league Charters with Little League®, asserting the league's agreement to adhere to the Rules, Regulations, and Policies of Little League®.

The Constitution of Lake Norman Little League provides a set of basic league operating policies. This document governs the annual procedures of the league in conjunction with Little League's rules, regulations, and policies.

Board of Directors

The management of the property and affairs of Lake Norman Little League is vested in the Board of Directors.  Membership on the board is based on a rotating three-year cycle. The full term of a director is three years. For consistency and continuity, approximately one-third of the director terms expire each year, subject to such directors being re-elected. No director shall serve on the board for more than three consecutive terms. Each officer must be confirmed each year in the three-year term of office. All elections of directors is by majority vote of regular members.

The Board of Directors has appointed these committees to support the activities of the league.



Advises with and assists the officers of the league in all matters concerning its interests and the management of its affairs, and has such other powers as may be delegated to it by the Board, but in no event will the Executive Committee have authority over the Board of Directors.


Assists the District Administrator in inter-league district functions including the selection of members of the District Administrator’s Advisory Committee and the selection of tournament sites and area tournament directors.


Reviews the league’s books and records annually prior to the Annual Meeting and attaches a statement of its findings to the annual financial statement of the President and Treasurer; or may, if directed by the Board of Directors or Membership, secure the services of a Certified Public Accountant to accomplish such review.

Membership & Nominating

Receives and investigates prospective members for eligibility and recommends those qualified for election at the annual, regular or any special meeting of the board. The committee also investigates and considers eligible director nominees and submits at the Annual Meeting a slate of candidates for the board. In addition, the committee submits for consideration by the board a slate of officers and committee members.

Finance & Auxiliary

Investigates ways and means of financing the league including sponsorships. The committee also reviews and evaluates auxiliary projects for raising money and disposition of profits, and makes recommendations to the board.


Advises with and assists the Safety Officer in all matters related to creating awareness, through education and information, of the opportunities to provide a safer environment for children and all participants of the league.


Secures bids on needed supplies and equipment and makes recommendations for their purchase to the board. The committee is responsible for the proper issuance of such supplies and equipment and for the repair, cleaning and storage thereof at the close of the season.


Recruits, interviews and recommends to the president an association to provide a staff of qualified umpires in support of the league’s operations. The committee monitors the selected association, addresses all scheduling requirements, game cancellations or reschedules, and resolves any conduct related issues.


Responsible for working directly with the local Parks & Recreation leadership in regards to the care and maintenance of the playing fields, buildings and grounds.

Building & Property

Investigates and recommends available, suitable sites and plans for development, including ways and means, the latter in cooperation with the Finance Committee. The committee is responsible for repair and improvement recommendations, other than normal maintenance, and supervises the performance of approved projects.


Manages the league’s official website, online registration, team pages, etc. Communicates league news and scores on a regular basis on the website, social media outlets, and direct email.


Interviews and investigates prospective team managers and coaches, then recommends acceptable candidates for appointment and subsequent approval by the board. The committee observes the conduct of team managers and coaches and reports its findings to the board. At the request of the board, the committee investigates complaints concerning managers and/or coaches and makes a report thereof to the board.
