Thank you for your interest in applying for the Lake Norman Little League Higher Education Scholarship. Please complete this application in full and submit no later than April 30th for consideration. The Lake Norman Little League Higher Education Scholarship was established in 2021 by the league's Board of Directors to reward former/current Lake Norman Little League baseball and/or softball players, who embody the ideals and values of Lake Norman Little League, with financial assistance for higher education or fees associated with the first year of trade school instruction. In order to be eligible to receive this scholarship, the applicant must be a senior in high school and meet the other eligibility criteria set forth below. There is no relationship between the award of this scholarship and athletic ability. While seasons of play in Lake Norman Little League is one criteria used to determine scholarship recipients, other factors, including but not limited to an applicant’s service to Lake Norman Little League (including, for example, as an umpire, helper or other efforts in support of the league), community involvement, volunteer hours and academic achievement will be considered when awarding these scholarships.

Please be aware that NCAA rules may prohibit acceptance of this scholarship if the recipient will be participating in a collegiate athletic program. Please consult with a financial advisor before applying.

ELIGIBLITY CRITERIA:
To be eligible for consideration, applicants must meet the following criteria:
1. Be a graduating high school senior.
2. Must have played in Lake Norman Little League for at least 1 season. For purposes hereof, a “season” includes participation in at least 60% of the applicant’s games in a particular division in a spring or fall season.
3. Be accepted and plan to attend an accredited university, college or trade school.

SCHOLARSHIP AWARD:
The Lake Norman Little League Scholarship Committee consisting of certain present League Board members will select the scholarship recipients. To ensure fairness in reviewing applications, applicant names will be redacted before being submitted to the Scholarship Committee for review..

SCHOLARSHIP AMOUNT:
A scholarship in the amount of $1,000 will be awarded to recipients after proof of enrollment in a college, university or trade school has been provided or obtained by Lake Norman Little League.

AWARD ANNOUNCEMENTS:
Scholarship recipients will be notified directly on or before May 15th. Public announcement of scholarship recipients may also be made on social media (Facebook, etc.), e-mail blast and/or a recipients’ reception. By submitting this application, the applicant and his/her parent(s)/guardian(s) hereby consent to Lake Norman Little League making such public announcements.
